One Room Challenge: A Jack n' Jill Week One

I am so excited to be apart of this years One Room Challenge as a linking participant. Thank you to Linda from Calling it Home for coming up with this bi-annual event where we design bloggers are given just 6 weeks, yes you read that correctly to complete a room. I must be cray cray, but so are all of the other amazing people who are going to stress themselves to the max! Sounds like fun right?!

Here's a little back ground info on me. Design is my second career. In my first life I was a make up artist, & now I design, handpaint fabric, make pillows & custom drapery. I remember as a kid constantly re arranging my bedroom furniture. Not much has changed, only now I have more rooms!!! I began my blog 2 1/2 years ago & have always loved following along with the One Room Challenge & with my own major renovation happening #projecthillview, I thought it would be fun to join in.

Back in June we bought a new house, a Mid Century Modern bungalow built in 1968. So far we have removed ceilings, walls, added new walls, filled in little windows & added an entire window wall of bi-folding doors & the list goes on & on. With all of this renovation we decided to add a Jack n" Jill bath between the kids bedrooms & that's the space I have chosen to complete in just 6 very short weeks.

This is the original plan of the house we bought.

The new Jack n' Jill bath is where Bedroom 2 was & the den was made bigger for my daughter's bedroom.

A few months ago I came up with this plan for their bathroom. I still like it but,

after seeing this amazing hex tile from Equipe Tile, I switched gears.

And redesigned the space & this is where it's headed.

This is what the bathroom looks like today, a complete blank slate, so we've got a lot of work to do - inert scared face here.

Here's the list of what needs to happen in the next six weeks in order to put Humpty back together:
tile shower walls
tile shower floor
tile floors
purchase vanity
install lighting
select & frame art
select & install bathroom accessories
install new toilet & plumbing fixtures
figure out the mirror situation

Make sure you check back in next Thursday to see the progress & click here to see what my fellow ORC-ers are up to.

  9. I love, love, love the new tile you selected! I'm always impressed when people choose renovations for the ORC--I'd be too nervous relying on contractors to get things done in a timely fashion. Looking forward to seeing the finished space and I love the swimmers print!

  11. Hi Holly! Omg, I know your new bathroom will look amazing! I love the way you're heading with the design direction. I actually redesigned both our bathrooms a few years ago. I have to say, they were my favorite projects. I still haven't posted those transformations on my blog yet. Maybe by year's end. Anyway, I can't wait to follow along your progress with your bathroom. Good luck!

  13. Screech! That would be me stopping in my tracks! Yes, that tile would make me change directions too. I hope to use a more daring tile like that in my daughter's bathroom, but for now I'm sticking to timeless but definitely not boring marble. Good luck, can't wait to see this one!
