#projectdouglas - Pre teen Bedroom Design

Hello Tuesday!

Yesterday I introduced you to #projectdouglas if you missed it you can see it here. Along with the family room, den /office & powder room refresher thats happening, I'm also completing a pre teen bedroom & this girl knows what she wants- black, white & blue!

Here is the existing bedroom. Light pink walls, a pale mint green ceiling with cream wood work.

I came up with 2 different design boards.

OPTION #1

OPTION #2

Luckily my little client like a combination of both board, so it's going to be a mash up.

Everything is going white, BM Oxford White to be exact. Oxford White is one of my faves because its a clean crisp white with just a tinsy hint of grey & the bed wall is getting a coat of BM Yosemite Blue.

Before I came on the scene, my client had already replace the ceiling fixture with the industrial black sputnik light. All of the existing furniture is staying with the exception of the low bookshelf in the corner - thats leaving! We're adding 3 floating white shelves above the think black metal framed desk for books, a few storage boxes & all of the things a 10 year old wants to display!

The window is going to receive a white roman blind with blue banding down the sides and bottom & oversized black pom poms along the bottom edge. We are also replacing the mirror over the dresser & creating a small gallery wall of some fun colourful prints that will emphasize the blue & also sprinkle in a few other fun colours.

New bedding has been purchased, blue sheets, a black & white duvet cover in a simple graphic print. Black & white striped euro shams, a pair of blue croc velvet pillows & a mongolian fur lumbar will finish off the bed.

I think that's it for now. I'll check back in with a progress update in a few weeks.

New Project Intro - #projectdouglas

I began a new project, it's really more a refresh that involves a family room, powder room & a 10 year old girls bedroom that is a little more of a makeover.

Today I'm going to share my plans for updating the family room & powder room. My client was looking to change up the wall colour, it's currently a real creamy taupe with a touch of gold, we're also changing up the sofa pillows. The main pieces in this space were great to begin with, a streamline blue grey Lee Industries sectional, a cream leather coffee table ottoman & a neutral hide rug. The den / office is open to the space, just to the let of the sofa,  it will be getting an entire wall of custom built-ins with work stations in white, but for now we are dealing with just the paint for that space.

The powder room is on the small side with a weird angled jog on one of the walls, my solution is to wallpaper it!

Since all of these spaces are in close proximity to one another I schemed up 4 different stories that included the paints, fabrics & wallpaper options.

Can you guess which one we chose?

The family room walls are going BM Gray Mist & the den / office, BM Gray Whale. The sofa pillows are getting a naughty & nice combination of Schumacher Hollyhock Pyne, Kravet Cotoure snakeskin linen & a textured silvery grey.

In the powder room this Thibaut Waterford Floral wallpaper in charcoal is happening with BM Gray Whale in the ceiling.

I'll be back tomorrow filling you in on the girls bedroom.

Stay cool my friends!

#Backyardremix

With the inside mostly complete at #projecthillview & with the warm weather upon us & a pool, I have switched my attention to the backyard.

It is some need of serious work & dollars to achieve our ultimate goal. We met will Joel Loblaw & have decided to work with him & his amazing team to create the backyard oasis of our dreams, but that will have to wait for a few years. Until then, we have decided to tackle the #backyardremix ourselves. We cleaned everything up. I asked the Mr. to keep the grass cut, looking nice & green & I'll take care of the reset. Here is how the yard looks now, the before befores were way too embrassing.

I am a proud garbage picker & saved the hexagon shaped dining table for the end of my uncles driveway. A little cleaning & she'll be great. Those 4  super ugly arm chairs that are ridiculously comfy, those will get slipcovered in white terry towel.  The kids Muskoka chairs will also get a coat of paint.

I'd love to clear out the back left corner to make way for a large umbrella & 2 lounge chairs.

This wall will have a series of hooks for easy hanging of towels & pool toys.

My neighbour put this extra large wicker chair out to the curb the other day, so I dragged it to my garage. A new comfy seat & back cushion & it will be ready for curling up with a fruity cocktail.

The side yard fence it tucked around the corner & you can only see it when you'er in the pool.
After seeing this pic from Kerry Rosenthal Art on her instagran artkr I instantly knew a graphic mural of some kind was in order. I like the idea of an unexpected surprise.

Do you have any plans to spruce up your back yard this summer?

The Roof Top Servery Reveal - One Room Challenge Week 6

Well here we are, REVEAL day for the One Room Challenge!

You can see my previous posts for the Roof Top Servery here, week 1 / week 2 / week 3 / week 4 / week 5

Here's a quick recap. The top floor of my Mom's muti-level townhouse is a space about 7ft x 10ft with a door that leads out to a wrap around roof top terrace. This 70 square foot space is what I chose to reinvent. I had free reign but my design had to include a full size fridge, sink, dishwasher, microwave & coffee maker and we made it happen.
I love a good Before & After so lets get straight to it.  I will share all of the sourcing & detail information next week because we all just want to see the photos!

BEFORE:

AFTER:
I created 2 set ups, one for fun & the other as a bar.

Please be sure to see all of the reveals from my fellow guest linkers & for the invited 20 who revealed yesterday (they are so good!)

A big giant thank you to Linda from Calling It Home for scheming up the ORC I had a great time creating this space  & my previous ORC Jack n'Jill for my kids!
